Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. In this disease, malignant cells develop in the protective lining of the misothiliom, which covers most of the internal organs. The most common site is the pleura (outer lining of the lungs and internal chest wall), but may also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of the abdominal cavity), heart, pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart) or tunica vaginalis.
She has worked most people who develop mesothelioma in jobs where asbestos particles, or inhalation of asbestos dust and fibers in other ways. He also suggested that washing clothes for family members who worked with asbestos can put a person at risk for developing mesothelioma. Unlike lung cancer, there is no relationship between mesothelioma and smoking, but smoking greatly increases the risk of cancer caused by asbestos. Compensation via asbestos funds or lawsuits is an important issue in mesothelioma (see asbestos and the law).
Symptoms of mesothelioma include shortness of breath due to effusion ganby (fluid between the lung and the chest wall) or pain in the chest wall, and general symptoms such as weight loss. The diagnosis was suspected with chest x-ray and CT scan, biopsy examination confirms this (tissue sample) and microscopic. Thoracoscopy may be used (enter a tube with a camera in the chest) to take biopsies. It allows to enter materials such as talc to obliterate the pleural space (called adhesion ganby), which prevents further accumulation of fluid and pressure on the lung. Despite treatment with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery sometimes, the disease carries a poor prognosis. Search for examinations for the early detection of mesothelioma continues The nearest doctor.
